Saint Patrick's Confessio The Saint Patrick’s Confessio Hypertext Stack Project is about Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, who is an integrating figure in that he provides a sense of identity for the whole of Ireland. The HyperStack is a case study of how to deal with text transmission and how to deal with the academic heritage of the print era, since that constitutes so much a part of the transmission of historical texts.

AISSCA, "Associazione italiana per lo studio della santità dei culti e dell'agiografia", fondata da Sofia Boesch Gajano e un gruppo di studiosi italiani, ha avuto origine da pluriennali esperienze di ricerca, individuali e collettive, italiane e internazionali, che, innestate nella lunga e consolidata tradizione dell’agiografia scientifica promossa a partire dal secolo XVII dalla Société des Bollandistes, hanno costituito uno dei filoni più innovativi della storiografia degli ultimi decenni. Scopo dell’Associazione era quello di promuovere la collaborazione fra studiosi a livello internazionale, con l’organizzazione di convegni e seminari e la creazione di una rete di informazioni bibliografiche e progettuali. Fonti e metodologie sono quelli propri di discipline diverse: letteratura, storia sociale e istituzionale, antropologia, liturgia, diritto, iconografia.

SISMEL International Society For the Study of Medievan Latin Culture

FEF "Fondazione Ezio Franceschini ONLUS" is a cultural institute for studies on medieval Europe, in its Latin and Romance literary expressions. Its activity unites the remembrance of 20th century intellectuals - Ezio Franceschini and Gianfranco Contini, as well as others - who renewed and reinvigorated philological studies, with innovative advancement of research, education, and scholarly meetings. The Foundation benefits from a specialist library that is unique in Italy, including an archive of documents and papers from several of the most important Italian medievalists. Its resources and offerings encompass a series of fundamental research activities, with the establishment of catalogues and repertories of texts and manuscripts, a series of significant historiographical research on medieval Latin and Romance philology, mysticism and Mariology, musicology, information technology, organisation of international congresses and seminars, a specialisation course granting a degree equivalent to the Italian Ph.D, and the publication of thematic series of books and periodicals.

ASPHS "Association for Spanish and Portuguese Historical Studies"

CECH "Centro de Estudos Clássicos e Humanísticos". Since its foundation (in 1967), CECH distinguished itself by building a robust matrix of philological research (language, literature and culture), which has made it a reference center for Greek, Latin and Neo-Latin (Medieval and Renaissance) Studies in Portugal, and a preferential interlocutor for international partners. Reception Studies are also distinctive of CECH in the sense of analyzing the rewriting of great myths, but also including the translation and performance of ancient theatre, a much-valued activity by its connection to theatrical practice (through the Thiasos group and the Classical Theater Festival). In more recent years, the study of primary sources was enriched by the study of musical collections.

United Kingdom

Centre for the Study of the Cantigas of Santa María of Oxford University was created in 2005. It currently hosts two linked research projects: the Cantigas de Santa Maria database and the new Cantigas de Santa Maria critical edition. The Cantigas de Santa Maria database is designed to give access to a vast range of information relevant to the processes of collection, composition and compilation of the Cantigas de Santa Maria. It will provide the critical material for a new edition of the Cantigas de Santa Maria, which will be published both in printed and electronic form. The database is under continual development.

Foundation for Medieval Genealogy was established to promote the study of genealogy and prosopography for the period before 1500 AD, and to publish the results of those studies. Although they are based in the UK their membership is world-wide.

United States

AARHMS "American Academy of Research Historians of Medieval Spain" brings together scholars whose research focuses on the lands and peoples of the Iberian peninsula and associated territories from the period spanning roughly 400 to 1500 CE.

Worldwide

CARMEN is a network of medievalists, its name being an acronym for the "Co-operative for the Advancement of Research through a Medieval European Network". It links a number of research institutions, universities, interest groups and individuals with common scholarly interest in the study of the Middle Ages. While based in Europe, it reaches out to all continents to create an open and truly international platform of co-operation in the field of medieval research and teaching.

Digital Medievalist is an international web-based community for medievalists working with digital media. It was established in 2003 to help scholars meet the increasingly sophisticated demands faced by designers of contemporary digital projects. Digital Medievalist publishes an open access journal, sponsors conference sessions, runs an email discussion list and encourages best practice in digital medieval resource creation.

FIDEM "The International Federation of Institutes for Medieval Studies" is a non-profit organization founded in 1987. Its main objectives are to support and foster medieval studies in all areas of knowledge through the organization of meetings, the publication of monographs, and the promotion of a diploma aimed at young researchers. FIDEM associates, whether institutional or individual, are based throughout the world.

IMSSS "International Medieval Sermon Studies Society" promotes and fosters the study of medieval sermons and preaching in Latin and the vernacular languages within their social, literary, religious, intellectual, theological, catechetical, political and historical contexts. The Society also promotes and fosters the study of various artes praedicandi, and theories of preaching derived from them, as well as material used by sermon writers (e.g., Florilegia, commentaries, etc.).

Medievalists founders Sandra Alvarez and Peter Konieczny met each other while in the University of Toronto’s Medieval Studies program They decided to start a site where they could blog about history, and post articles, news, book reviews and movies. They wanted to share their love of history and show people why history matters.
